What is Cheato?
Cheato is an AI study assistant. It reads the question already on your screen, or answers from the notes you upload, and gives you the answer with the working shown. It runs as a Chrome extension with a companion website at cheato.store.
How does it read my screen?
You press a keyboard shortcut on any page. Cheato captures the question in front of you and sends it to be answered. There is no copy and paste, no switching tabs, and no retyping.
Is my data private?
Yes. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your questions or notes to train our own models. We send only what is needed to answer a question to our AI providers, never your name or email. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Which AI models do you use on each plan?
Free runs on Gemini Flash. Basic runs on GPT mini. Pro runs on Claude Sonnet. Max runs on Claude Opus and Fable, our most capable models, picked automatically to fit each question. Mega adds answers grounded in your own notes with retrieval (RAG) on top of the Max models.
How accurate is it?
It is good, but no AI is perfect. It can still be wrong or miss context. Treat it as a fast study partner, not a final authority, and double check anything that really matters like graded work or exam prep.
Can I use my own notes?
Yes, on the Mega plan. Upload your course notes and slides, and Cheato answers from your own material so you get the version your professor taught rather than a random one off the web.
How do refunds work?
You can ask for a refund within 7 days of a payment if something went wrong. The full terms and how to request one are on the refund policy page.
How do I change my shortcut or answer style?
Open your dashboard in the app and go to settings. From there you can change the keyboard shortcut, the answer style, and the look of the on-screen answer such as colours, font, size, opacity, and theme.
Which browsers does Cheato support?
Cheato is a Chrome extension, so it works in Chrome. Support for other browsers is not available yet.
How do I cancel?
You can cancel anytime from your account. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, so you keep access until then and are not billed again.
